This model allows the Urena family to fully control their operations, ensure fair compensation for farmers, and prioritize quality over volume. They have developed the “Black Honey” method, an eco-friendly drying process that enhances flavors while limiting water consumption. By leaving cooperatives, they have increased transparency and traceability. Their coffee, prized by international roasters, supports local development and preserves a primary forest, with practices certified by Costa Rica's Pavillon Bleu Écologique.
